Can Cosmetic Surgeries Be Combined?
With the increase in knowledge and experience related to surgeries, commonly held misconceptions are gradually changing. In the past, usually, only a single area would be operated on at a time. However, due to advancements in surgical techniques and safety measures, it is now possible to perform surgeries on several different areas simultaneously.
The concept of “mommy makeover” has particularly contributed to the rise in combined surgery preferences. Depending on the needs of the individual, changes due to pregnancy can be addressed in one session by selecting appropriate surgeries such as liposuction, tummy tuck, breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, or breast lift with implants. In fact, even before the trend of combined surgeries, multiple surgeries were performed together. For instance, a facelift could be combined with neck lift, eyelid surgery, and brow lift to rejuvenate the entire face.
Combined surgeries align perfectly with the holistic beauty concept. When procedures are performed in adjacent areas, untreated areas tend to stand out more compared to the treated areas. For example, post-breast surgery, any existing deformations in the abdominal area may become more noticeable. We all tend to view our bodies as a whole in the mirror, and even if the surgical result is perfect, we expect everything to look good together.
Thanks to the holistic approach and advancements in medicine, it is now possible to combine many surgeries. However, this does not mean that combined surgeries are suitable for everyone. Existing illnesses, medications, advanced age, genetic conditions, and abnormal values in blood tests can restrict the feasibility of combined surgeries.
All these factors are taken into account during preoperative evaluations to determine whether combined surgeries are appropriate for you. If not suitable, the desired outcome can still be achieved with single surgeries performed in separate sessions.
